First Day of School!

Jack's first day of school! He started Pre-K today! A little later than the rest of his class, since I just found out about it a few weeks ago and we had to track down a missing immunization shot before he could register. (Yikes! It makes me almost glad I changed the 'immunized by 2' slogan to immunized to whenever you can get around to it! The twins are just now at the '1 year' level of immunizations. I'm only a year behind!)
I'm really nervous for Jack-- he wasn't nervous at all. In fact he was more like, "When are we going to get started?" But mom's worry. I gave him money for lunch and just LEFT him there. How could I? I've promised myself I wasn't going to go back before he's done. But maybe... No! I'll wait for 2 more hours until he's done. (He goes afternoons-- 11:45 to 2:45. With the first 30 min. for lunch.)
Myles and Andrew were more upset than I was at leaving Jack. Myles was ordering him to come as we left. Then he gave me the most dubious look as we went outside and LEFT Jack behind. It didn't help with the already worried mom syndrome. I'll keep you updated on the progress of the worried mom and future scholar.

Greg's Solo

From Sept 2008

Greg finished his first solo in the T-44!! Hooray!! That's actually his airplane as he flew it himself. Awesome, eh? And here is a picture that really has nothing to do with that!

Pregnant

A lot of people mentioned that they wanted to see a pregnant picture of me. I'm trying to get my mom to send one from her computer about this far along with the twins so you can compare. But so far I've got these:
From Sept 2008
I'm 31 weeks pregnant. Not as good as if I were leaning back so you can see it, but as Jack was the one that took the picture I think it's pretty good. :)

And pardon this picture but it's the only one I have with me pregnant with the twins.
I'm in Labor. 36 1/2 weeks.

Jack's new firetruck!

Jack went to Lowe's this weekend and was able to make a firetruck! His favorite!! He did all the work on it-- drove all the nails and put on all the stickers. Daddy only helped by nailing on the removable ladder so it wouldn't be lost. He was insistant when he got home that we get it all cataloged with pictures. He is pretty proud of it. And best of all, it was free! I love that!

More Family Pictures

You can just tell Myles is up to something in this picture.

Jack loves to have his picture taken.

I love Andrew's face in this picture.

Sea Monster? Nope, just our car...

This is us driving along the road that leads to our house 2 days after Ike. The water was probably a foot deep, but full of seaweed. If I could bend over I'd take a picture of the underside of our van so you could see all the seaweed still hanging off it. YUCK!

Well, needless to say, this wasn't the best thing to do for our poor van. It has been making a funny squealing noise ever since. We took it to a car wash and sprayed the engine down, but that didn't help with the seaweed problem or the squealing. Hopefully our van won't be overtaken by the seaweed and become a monster, (which is what Jack thinks will happen) or break down, (which is what I worry will happen.)

We've found another way around this road, since it's apparently still underwater. Hurricane Dolly only took 1 week for the water go and 3 for the clean-up crew. We're still waiting for this round....

Family Pictures

We got our family picture taken. Not the best, but you can't tell I'm pregnant unless you look close so I consider it a success. (Other than the fact that I look stoned.) Aren't my boys cute?!

Update on Ike

"Man, this is nice weather for a hurricane!"

For our second hurricane here, Ike has been a disappointment. We had even more hype over it than Hurricane Dolly, but at last 'they' decided we wouldn't even see any rain. So we got a rise in water level and hardly any clouds. Not even a good tropical storm from it!

That means we had to talk in church this sunday. We got through it okay, especially because only about 50 % of the ward were there. I guess most of them were still evacuated. It was a good excuse for a vacation-- you didn't even have to worry about your house left at home!
The people in Houston and Galveston weren't so lucky. Hopefully they can get everything back to normal there soon.

Hurricane Ike

Here we go with another hurricane! Greg flew with the Senior Marine yesterday and considering that's a pretty reliable source we are preparing to evacuate. I'm still not sure they will make us, but he recommended getting a hotel room before it was too late. So now we have a hotel reservation in San Antonio for Thurs night thru Sunday. (Even though they say it won't hit until Sat.) This may be a good thing since it might get us out of speaking on Sunday, but I guess if I count on that it definatly won't.
Hurricane Ike is right now just past the coast of Cuba and only a category 1. It's supposed to build to a category 3 before hitting land again and it's supposed to turn north so we'll be on the south end of it-- but when has a hurricane done what it's supposed to? We'll just play the wait-and-see game...
