Hurricane Ike

Here we go with another hurricane! Greg flew with the Senior Marine yesterday and considering that's a pretty reliable source we are preparing to evacuate. I'm still not sure they will make us, but he recommended getting a hotel room before it was too late. So now we have a hotel reservation in San Antonio for Thurs night thru Sunday. (Even though they say it won't hit until Sat.) This may be a good thing since it might get us out of speaking on Sunday, but I guess if I count on that it definatly won't.
Hurricane Ike is right now just past the coast of Cuba and only a category 1. It's supposed to build to a category 3 before hitting land again and it's supposed to turn north so we'll be on the south end of it-- but when has a hurricane done what it's supposed to? We'll just play the wait-and-see game...

YIKES! Enjoy San Antonio though, it's a pretty fun place to visit, with the Alamo and the River Walk. The temple wasn't finished when we lived in Austin, but we still enjoyed a couple of day trips to SA. We saw Santa Claus there. Seriously, this overweight guy wearing red velvet pants and a white shirt. He also had a long full grey beard as well as long grey hair.
Take your swim suits and check out Schlitterbahns and the Groene river as well. They are a little north west(?) of SA. (my sense of direction was all screwed up in TX so don't trust me completely on the nw thing! )
