Hurricane Dolly

So at first we were told we were going to evacuate. Once the storm turned farther south we decided that we'd just watch the water levels rise from where we are. Here are some pictures from the storm, all taken from our back porch.
1st Day

Usually the water is about a foot below this dock.

And odd moment of calm during the storm.

Day 2

Now the dock is completely covered in water.

I was trying to show how windy it is, but you get the idea.

Myles and Andrew Birthday

Myles and Andrew turned 2!!!

Celebrating with their new 'BBQ' kitchen. They got this and a small slide. That hat isn't supposed to be a bonnet, but a baker's hat.

I love this picture. It would be perfect if Myles didn't have his finger up his nose and Andrew didn't have ketchup all over his face.

Chocolate Chips Cookies Anyone?

We made cookies today!! Jack put in all the ingredients (mostly) by himself. He is so proud! And they taste good too! Yum!

But as always when mentioning cookies, I have too add the website for the BEST chocolate chip cookies anywhere around to be found. http://www.trygve.com/uemacgyv.html

NEW PHONE!!

I FINALLY got a new phone. (I know, everyone is saying "FINALLY!!") Anyway, that means I no longer have most of my phone numbers. (Not that I call anybody anyway, sorry!!) So if you want me to have your phone number (not that some of you have a choice, ha ha!!) then email me at sophialpeterson@yahoo.com OR we will have 400 text messages each, so go ahead and text away! Anyway, hope you all have a good day.

Museum of Science and History

We decided to check out the local Science and History Museum. It was really cool and sort of school like. Except when wandering around with a school group it was the teachers that had that slight look of terror when the kids try to climb on 200 year old stuff. When you go when your older, it's you because of course it's your kid trying to topple the display of ancient artifacts.
This Museum was cool because they have reproductions of Christopher Colombus' ships. The Nina and the Santa Maria. However, you can no longer crawl all over the Santa Maria since it was it with a "run away barge." (How do you loose a barge I have a few picts here: )

Here are the pics of the Nina and the Santa Maria:

(please ignore the double chin...)

We also got to do other fun things. Here are some pics of those.
Fishing on the "boat". Jack's favorite part was the life vest.
I'm a bird!
My mouths as big as his!

Sunday, July 6

How do they get into so much trouble in so little time?

Just like when Jack was 2 and somehow dumped all my olive oil into my italian seasoning and the kitchen, when you KNOW you put up all the markers/crayons/pens and yet you find them drawing all over the walls, or when you find a diaper and no kid. How and why do they do this so quickly? Here are some pictures I took of their latest 'stunts'.

(yes that's soap)

Okay, before you turn us into Social services, they didn't do this last one alone. Greg crawled up onto the crawl space and is holding Andrew's hands. But it's a pretty cool picture, eh?

Jack's flight suit

Here's Jack in his flight suit.

Good salute, huh?

Cute, Huh? Even if I do say so myself. And I am KINDA partial.

USS Lexington

HAPPY 4TH!!

Yesterday we went to the USS Lexington, which is a WWII aircraft carrier used until 1991. After Vietnam, it was mainly used as landing practice in Pensacola. Had Greg gone through flight training before '91, he would have had to land on here. We didn't get to really go through it since they boys didn't tolerate the heat and walking very well. Tickets come with a IMAX movie, so we all got to see 'Fighter Pilot.' I wondered if, after watching it, Greg would feel bad about turning down the jet slot that would have been his. But not so. He said while the movie made it look fun, it also made a point of one major reason for his not choosing jets: the competition they are always in. The boys mostly enjoyed the film. They wanted us to cover their ears during most of the fly overs and explosions, but they still watched with fascination.

Using the stove

So I think I was using this correctly. Does anyone know anything about this type of stove top? I couldn't figure out why they used propane and coals. But the food was good.

We have internet!!

We finally got our internet today!! Hooray! Who can live without internet?
Anyway, I realized I had never posted pictures of my new table.

Greg did a good job building it, huh? Here's some more...
