Missing Greg :'(
Greg had the chance to fly to Orlando and get 6 flights done this weekend. He was excited because that would mean finishing up on the 5th of June as planned. The sad part is he's gone Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday. (He'll get home around 11 p.m.) Anywho, I'm MISSING him dreadfully, but he's not enjoying himself too much, since the only reason they are gone for all day Saturday is so the instructors can all get wasted. Greg's the only one on the trip that doesn't drink, so he's in for a long weekend.

Water

We've been having problems with our bathroom sink hot water. The cold comes out just fine, but the hot water stops as soon as it warms up. We think there's a build up of hard water deposits so we asked a neighbor, who happens to work in Greg's Squadron, if she's had the same problem. All she said about the water is: "It's bad. We don't drink it or even cook with it." Good to know after using it for almost a year!

A Short Story
This is a short story I was working on. I thought perhaps everyone would get a chuckle.
“We just can't have nice things!”
If you ask my Mom she'll tell you that she never said this. But she did. A lot. I remember, because I was there holding a piece of her favorite doll. It was a doll brought back from Japan by her only brother, my Uncle Charlie. It makes sense that she would say this considering she had four kids in the span of 3 years. Two girls one year apart then twin boys. Three years after that the last of the kids would join the family. Another boy. One who would do anything for chocolate. Like climb on the roof or try out an invention by his older brothers. We only had three or four broken bones come out of this arrangement, which I think is a miracle. Mixed with this, our bunch, was various babysitting kids that we had in our home. Over the course of some 10 odd years I would say we had at least 25 kids come in and out of our home. This is how it was for me growing up.
At one point I wondered why we didn't lock our doors. When taking a look around our home I realized why. We had nothing worth stealing. I think if we were to write a note to would be burglars it would read something like this:
Please come in. Try and avoid the various objects on the floor-- most of them are toys but there is an occasional cat. You'll see the books on the bookshelf. Your welcome to any of them, though I should warn you almost all of them are missing pages and have various crayon, pen and marker writings on the remaining ones. Next turn to your right and proceed into the kitchen. If your shoes stick to the floor, don't worry it's just a mixture of juice, glue and corn syrup. We mopped the floor this afternoon, but were just to exhausted to do it a third time today. If you want to take any of the dishes, please feel free. However you should know that any valuable ones where sought out and destroyed by the children as soon as they could walk. If your wondering, the microwave still does work even after having two forks, a whole egg, and multiple plastic toys cooked in it. Please take it-- I've been needing a new one. Next up would be the family room. You'll see the VCR standing ready. You're welcome to it, but you'll have to remove the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The TV is also available. I hope you like PBS, since it long ago had the buttons torn off and the remote has been missing for years. If it's medicine you're after feel free to look through the bathroom medicine cabinet. We have Baby Tylenol, baby lotion, baby cough syrup, an itch cream and extra strength Aspirin. All our cash comes in the form of coins-- mostly pennies. Check the couch, I'm sure you'll find some there. All the really interesting stuff is hidden away in the twins' room downstairs. Be careful entering-- they are boys so most everything is tied together some how or another with string. It's like trying to go through a laser security field to get to a bank vault. Most of the floor is covered in dirty laundry, various bits of electronics and in the end all that could be waiting for you is a half eaten can of green beans. We really don't know. The girls room is full of treasure's too. Mostly stashed chocolate they are saving to bribe their younger brothers with.
So maybe in the end it's good not to have nice things. It just makes you more of a target. By your kids of course.

A Girl Friend for Jack
Jack likes girls. Always has. He'll follow any girl around the park whenever we go and I was not surprised at all when we went to Chick-Fil-A today and there was a girl there playing that he at once started following her around to play with. Even when it was time to go and Mackay was ready and set to leave, Jack wasn't ready since, "That girl is still playing!" I finally strongarmed him out to the car. On the way home I was talking to my mom on my cell phone when Jack suddenly speaks up from the back of the van, ">"Can we find me a friend that's a girl? A girl I can keep?" "A girl you can keep?" is all I can say through my giggles. "Yeah," he continues, "Lets go to the place that has girls and get one." "The girl place?" I ask. Jack: "Yeah, we should." "I'll work on that." Is all I can say.

Jack's 1st Talk
Yesterday
I really can't find humor in it yet, but can see how others may. Here was my day yesterday:
We woke up to the realization that although I thought I had another box of diapers we couldn't find them and only had two left. Those went on the boys first thing in the morning. After getting them dressed and fed I went all around the house and garage searching for the box of diapers I was SURE we had. I didn't find anything. Around about noon I gave up and decided that we had better just go to the store and get more. I spent another half hour searching for my keys, only to find them in the locked van. So no going to get more. I went in to find my cell phone and found Andrew's diaper hanging to his knees. It was a bad one so I put him in the tub. Myles decided that he would fill his diaper too so he could get in. I put them in the tub and pulled out my phone. First I called Greg and told him to pick up diapers on his way home. Then I put the phone in my back pocket to pull the boys out of the tub because they were dumping copious amounts of water on the bathroom floor. Once they were safely out of the bathroom, I pulled out my phone and it was all dark. I thought perhaps it hadn't charged last night and was out of battery. I plugged it in and fiddled around with the keys and listened to the noises it was making and realized that, no, it wasn't a charging issue it was the phone itself. It had turned the screen off so I can no longer see what was going on. AND it only lets me call out and recieve calls based on how it feels. I recieved one of Greg's four calls back to me to tell me that the commisary was out of diapers so he actually couldn't pick up any on his way home, since he was in uniform.
I did have one swim diaper left from last summer and Andrew spent the next 5 hours in it. Myles wore two cloth diapers held together with clips. They were both leaking at 3, and still had two more hours to go before Greg came home then went out again to save me with diapers and pizza.
I figure today HAS to be a good day, even if it's normal that's awesome! And I have a new love for diapers.

Scriptures

Last night while having family scriptures, We were reading Mark ch. 3. Greg reads the first half chapter then I read the second and if Jack wants to I help him read a verse or two. We finished reading and Jack wanted to read "All by myself." So we let him, even though he was holding a Book of Mormon and can't read yet. But, looking intently at his book, he started, "I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me water. I was a stranger and you let me in. I was naked..." I don't think he knew what went with that one. Then he continued, "I was hungry and you didn't give me food. I was thirsty and you gave me no water. I was a stranger and you didn't let me in." We asked him if he learned that in Primary, because it had been a few weeks since we read it in Matthew. We just barely had the lesson in Relief Society that day about teaching our children out of the scriptures and it was inspiring to see that something actually had stuck.

Mowing the Lawn or at least the weeds growing there...
The boys love to help mow the lawn. The problem, of course, is that when they are being 'helpful' they really aren't that helpful. But they get really upset when Dad tries to do it on his own. I tried to get a picture of all three faces pressed firmly against the back sliding door-- watching raptly while Greg went back and forth with our mower. But I was of course blocked and would have been considered a traitor if I were to venture out without taking them with me.
We did try to do it early morning so they would be sleeping or at least eating breakfast (we thought we could get away with this since our mower is electric and not as noisy as a gas powered one.) But of course boys have a 6th sense about these things and were up an hour earlier than usual. We finally let them help for two passes in the front yard. Here are the pics:

Moving from to the front yard. Keep up Myles!

What are we waiting for Dad?!?

Lets get to work!
