We have an Address!!

We had a little miracle this week in finding a house. A guy in our ward has a house sitting empty waiting for it to sell, but it hasn't been lived in for a year. So even though he'd usually rent it for $2,000, he said he'd rent it to us for $1,200. It's 3250 square feet, though we wouldn't use the bottom level that is actually a separate apartment. But here's some outside pictures.

This is the back yard. We're a little worried about the kids, but the water is only about a foot deep until you get into the middle and we're going to set up a fence so they can't get over there anyway. Our new address is 145 Martha Dr, Corpus Christi TX 78418.

We're here! Corpus Christi!

Here we are in Corpus Christi. Now we have to hurry and find a house to rent for 4 to 6 months. Greg found out that he also will find out his winging date when he checks into the Squadron. That's next month. It's great to know we won't have to guess when, what and where we are going next.

Here are the boys enjoying the carousel at the local mall.

And here they are on top of the climbing rock in the local park:

Yes this isn't dangerous at all...

On Monday I'm going to be posting some of the pictures of the houses we're looking at. We are looking at some tomarrow, one of which is a 3200 square foot house of a guy in our ward. Most of the houses around the base look like they were rolled around in a dryer before being set up next to a bar of some sort, but this one is far enough away that, while it still stinks a bit, is in a better looking neighborhood. We'll keep you updated with addresses and pictures.

Moving...

We have to be in Corpus Christi by the 20th of this month. So I won't be doing a whole lot of posting, mostly just packing. Hope everyone has a good week...or two. I'll post pictures of Jack's birthday party when we get internet in our new house (when we find it.)

And I've shared this with most of you but we have a cute story about JackJack. I was asking him who we should invite to his birthday party and after discussing a few names I asked if there were any little girls he'd like to invite. He asked, "who's a girl?" and I replied, "I'm a girl." He got a really confused look on his face and said, "but I thought you were a princess." Just what a mom wants to hear especially if she's pregnant and feeling fat.
He also went on to eat a chocolate doughnut and claim that all the chocolate on his face was 'a birthmark.' Greg and I decided we were both incredibly unobservant to not notice the marks since his birth.

What Jack was doing...(see last post.)

Yes. He's doing what you think he's doing. And right in the middle of everyone playing. Not even knee deep in the water. And that's me rushing to get him to cover up on the crowded beach and get him to stop peeing in the water. (Too late...)

Yet Another Beach Day

Almost a good family picture ;) It's a lot better than I thought it was going to be, since right when the camera flashed something (a crab?) bit me. And where was Jack? You'll see in the next blog.

C-130's

Greg selected today-- which means they told us what he'll be flying for the next 6 years. C-130's!! We still move to Corpus Christi, TX but then we'd be transferred out to the 'fleet.' We were more than surprised to recieve them since the rumor was they only had 7 slots for the fiscal year, and they have already given out five. Including one last week when Greg's friend also recieved them. Usually slots only open every 2 or 3 months. So EVERYONE was surprised at getting another slot filled this week as well. Another of Greg's flying buddies who wants C-130's but hasn't graduated yet offered to pay for any skydiving or bungee jumping activity that we wanted to do this weekend...;)
Greg also tied for the highest NSS (Navy Standard Score-- what they use to base their assignments off.) 57. The other officer to get the score recieved Jets. (That's what most all flight students want to fly.)ALL the other Marines selecting this week recieved Ospry's. (That was Greg's second choice.)
