A do nothing day...

Today we didn't DO a whole lot, but some things got done so I'd like to take a minute to commemorate them, blog style.

-TAXES: DONE!!
-Kitchen: CLEAN!
-Kids: Mostly washed, fed and in bed!! (now that it's after nine of course.)
-Shopping: Half done.=(
-Earring: FOUND!! (I had lost one of my pearl earrings and seriously I cried about it. But Greg found it today!! Hiphip HoOrRaY!!

Okay that's about it. It's really sad that it took all day with two adults home to do this, but there it is.

Backyard Camp out!!

It was so nice we decided to have a backyard fire making for s'mores. The Burton's came over and all the boys were out digging, lighting, burning, and otherwise making the fire. Jack had TONS of fun cooking his hot dog over the fire, though after seeing it dip down in the dirt a number of times we decided it wouldn't be good for him to actually try to eat. Mostly he wanted to sit by the fire and cook something so it worked out perfectly.
We also set up the tent. Jack loved that idea too. He brought out his sleeping bag and pillow before it was even dark. We caught him twice in the tent completely undressed (he thinks you shouldn't have clothes on to sleep in a sleeping bag) ready to crawl in for the night.

The ZOO!!

Thursday we went to the North West Florida Zoo. When you first walk in it looks more like a neat backyard than a zoo and you find yourself thinking, "I just paid $11.50 for this?" But it later redeems itself with the wildlife free roaming area and the kids loved the petting zoo. (Especially feeding the giraffe.) Myles and Andrew liked to see the newborn twin wild goats too. And waving at the tigers.

No Flying Days!?!

Greg hasn't flown since last Friday and we don't know what to think about that. It's cool in some ways, because then we have days off to do whatever. But it also means Greg gets farther and farther away from finishing and the longer you go between flights the less you remember. But we did have a chance to go on a fun walk--as you can tell from the pictures. They are taken on Blackwater Trail in Milton. Tomarrow we might even go to the zoo. (I mean there's only so much at home we can clean and organize before you want to get out and do stuff. Though we are never done cleaning and organizing with three boys who like to undo everything for us.)

"I brought you flowers Mommy!"

Jack loves to bring me flowers. Or I should say he loves to bring me weeds that have small flowers on them. But as it is springtime, we have some actual flowers in our backyard. He's brought me flowers 5 or 6 times today alone. He is so SWEET!!I've attached some pics of the flowers and me wearing them.

My Birthday

I haven't gotten around to posting about my birthday, which was AWESOME!! Get ready to swoon, girls.

Greg arranged for a Saturday night babysitter, without my knowledge. So around 4pm, when I thought all I had to look forward to was more house cleaning and perhaps a late night movie, Greg surprised me with the information that instead of that fun filled evening we were going OUT!! HOORAY!! We hadn't done this in quite awhile, so it made it extra special. We dropped the kids off at the Burton's which made Jack very happy because then he could play with his "best friend Mackay." Greg had the whole evening set up for me. He picked out a neat restaurant (overlooking the water in Pensacola Beach-- and they had seafood!) and we hung out on the beach watching the waves rolling in. He even came up with stuff to do while we sat on the beach, almost like a get to know you even better game. It was the most romantic date I've ever been on. We didn't even see that many drunk people. The only trouble of the evening was that it was a little windy so I got cold, but 'cold' is relative because we aslo saw spring breakers swimming in the hotel pools. We also didn't spot the restuarant right away because I was supposed to be looking for it and I have bad eyesight. Overall I'd give it an A++.

Happy Easter everyone!
I hope everyone had fun hunting for easter eggs or good deals at the store or whatever you were hunting for...rabbit maybe? We had a pretty good time. We got together with our friends the Burton's for a combined Easter egg hunt/playtime. Mostly we "hid" the eggs by dropping them in an open field in plain sight and then pointed almost all of them out to the boys as they rushed out with baskets. It went mostly like this, "Andrew (or Myles), look over here! No right HERE!" (He's still staring off into space, then 3 inches to the right of the actual egg. Finally you touch the egg with your finger and they suddenly see it as if it appeared out of thin air. Of course it takes them forever to reach down and pick it up, and in the meantime Jack, who heard the "right HERE!" comment is now rushing over to pick the egg up too, so you have to marshal between them pointing out another egg for Jack to pick up making sure Andrew actually puts his in his basket because for some reason he things it's funny to hurl them in the air right over his head. I guess this is my fault for not explaining gravity- and the what goes up must come down and will probably hit you on the head-principle to my 18 month old.) When all is said and done Jack and Mackay (Jack's BEST friend, as he'll point out to anyone) have mostly full baskets and Myles and Andrew after finally getting the idea of the egg hunt decide it would be much for fun to play on the slides. Of course Sherrie, being the more wonderful Mom got all the boys big bubble blowers, kites and a whole box of fun toys. So then all the boys find these awesome toys and promptly throw them down so they can go play and most of the adults start flying kites to show them how much fun it is to do so. Meanwhile they get bored of standing there holding a string while mom and dad rush around trying to get a kite to fly and go play, but when the kite finally clears the 5 ft. extra pull to the earth, we've done so much work to get it there we HAVE to stay and fly it.
That was on Friday. We all spent Saturday shopping and getting rolls thrown at us, which is another blog in and of itself, but to put it shortly; we ate at Lambert's Cafe.
Saturday night I tried to put all the Easter outfits together. It made it hard to get them all to match without the matching clothes, but at least they were well ironed and pulled together for all the time the boys weren't wearing them.

Things you never thought you'd have to say...

While I knew certain things would eventually come out of my mouth (i.e. "Don't hit", "Be nice", "Eat your vegetables" etc.) Some things I never thought I'd have to say such as, "We don't eat floor food!", "Stop unscrewing all the door hinges", "Electronics don't belong in the sink!" and "Don't hit the fish tank with a hammer!" And yet, I know these things are not the most random sayings a Mom will say or has said. They are just things that you don't think about when you dream of having a small bundle of joy or even 3 bigger bundles as it now stands.
I don't know if such sayings are different if you have girls, but I assume they are. That doesn't mean they are any less random or meaningful, just different. Perhaps girls don't need to be told to stop shooting their brother with their play nail gun, but perhaps (if they have older brothers espcially) they do. Kids will be kids as we all know.
